To begin Water/Sewer service residents must fill out the registration form, bring the form to Village Hall with a copy of their photo ID (copy can be made at Village Hall) and a deposit of $75.00 (cash, check, or money order).  The second page of the application for Water/Sewer service pertains to the Village of Smithville Income Tax and needs to be completed.  Any one living in the household over 18 must be listed and then file an income tax return with the Village.

The Rate Reduction Program provides a reduction in the water and sewer rates to qualified senior residing in the Village of Smithville in a rental unit served by the Village's water and sewer system.  Seniors who own their home should apply for the Homestead Exemption with the Wayne County Auditor's office to receive the reduction.

ORDINANCE 2019-16  Establishes an available inspection of sewer connections for real property in the Village of Smithville.  Due to the concern about the increase in the flow in the sanitary sewer during and after rainfall, and the cause of the increase is due in part to houses and other buildings having downspouts, gutters, and other drains connected into the sanitary sewer.  It is unlawful to have storm water drained into sewers intended for sewage only.
